New Words That Should Be In The Dictionary
Posted by: Executive Producer, Julie Fike
This morning we told you about the American Dialect Society's word of the year for 2006. It was "plutoed." Which means "to demote or devalue someone or something." It comes from the former planet which scientists decided didn't meet the definition of a planet.
Well, here at Eyewitness News 5 in the morning, Tierney and I have our own words that you don't hear on the air but should be considered "real" words in the dictionary. Here's some of them.
-Mantastic: A man who is really a good guy, from looks to personality, the whole package. A combo between man and fantastic. Example: George Clooney is mantastic.
-Sasstastic: Someone who is being sassy to the extreme. (This is often times the nickname Tierney and I call each other. It's an affectionate term for us.)
-Sasstress: This is a mix between someone who is being "sassy" and a "princess."
You can also make up your own combinations. Another we use is "spectacular." Basically we just used the "acular" of the word and attach whatever to the front of the word. It's not scientific but gives us a chuckle throughout the day.

my kids have started using the word 'meaner' as in you're a meaner, it means mean and monster put together, at least that is what they say, who can agrue with twin 7 year olds on that, and it is a much better word then some of the things i have heard come out of the mouths of babes.
