"Send a message to oil companies. Don't buy gas May 15th!" That's the email I got. It said if we all bypassed the pump for one day, the industry would lose more than 2 billion dollars. The idea isn't a new one, but having just spent more than $50.00 to fill up my tank, I want to sock it to somebody... but will this work?
I looked at some research online, and most of the info. out there says a one-day "gas out" won't work. All we're really doing is putting off our inevitable gas purchase to another day. One source says you'd need to do something like this over a prolonged period of time to get noticeable impact.
So, I'm going to try to drive less, carpool more and when I do have to fill up, frown harder to let those oil companies know how I feel. How about you??
