Remembering JC Burris
Posted by Tierney Cook
I found out Friday night around 10:30.
My friend and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper JC Burris had died.
For at least the past two years he had battled colon rectal cancer.
I had interviewed him before during the "Click it or Ticket Campaign."
He was the face of the campaign that OHP used to help remind Oklahomans to buckle up.
Then I met his wife Debra. We are in the same sorority chapter (Sigma Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.)
I remember her coming to meetings giving us an update on JC.
The last time I talked to her, he was doing a lot better; out of the hospital and asking if there was anyway he could make it to Langston's basketball game.
Then he was gone.
I hope to make it to his funeral this morning, our sorority members are supposed to be flower bearers for the ceremony.
I want to dedicate this post to JC and his family. He was a really nice person who was smiling every time I saw him.
