Prices at the Pump
With the cost of gasoline on the rise, some are finding it cheaper to travel by air. Will Rogers World Airport has just added two new non-stop destinations and more are scheduled for the summer.Patricia Brooke prefers traveling by plane when she and her daughter come and go from St. Louis. "Two hours on a plane is much better than spending twelve hours in a car," she said.
Last summer, St. Louis was one of the top five hot spots for mid-westerners according to AAA. With gas prices now above $3/gallon, it would cost more than $50 to do the drive from Oklahoma City; to fly, it would be about the same price.
In anticipation of the additional airline passengers, Will Rogers World Airport Spokesperson Jennifer James McCollum said the airport is "gearing up for another summer of record travel."
The summer travel season really will begin when school lets out.
