Happy Valentine's Day

One year, I even wore a "love stinks" t-shirt to work complete with the cartoon character Pepe le Peu. I recently heard one guy say, "what's with Valentine's Day? It's all commercial." That may be but so is most holidays. Christmas. Easter. July 4th. These are commercial and sometimes the "true message" of those holidays gets lost.
But the true message of Valentine's Day isn't lost. It's about love (and not just the physical kind) Isn't that what we all want? Someone to love and love us back? Even when I didn't have a significant other on this day, which has been more than not, my mother and best girlfriends always pull through. It's about compassion. It's about someone caring. I've gotten more Valentine's Day cards and flowers from family and friends than boys.
I, in turn, pay it forward and when both my grandfather's died, I started sending Valentine's Day gifts to my grandmothers. I figured everyone remembers them on other days but they might need a pick-me-up since their long time partners are no longer here.
Is there someone like that in your life? A grandmother, grandfather, someone going through a divorce or just a co-worker who needs a little love or just compassion?
