Blinded by the Light
Posted by Adam Slinger
It's been a few days since I've had a moment to update the old blog. The reason: I'm working on a story for later this month that is taking up all of my time. I can't tell ya what it is either... Not yet. Here's a hint though--It will reveal something pretty gross (re: cleanliness) about someone on "Eyewitness News 5 In the Morning."
So, do we have any fans of our new morning promo that's been on the air? We LOVE it. In it, John, Frank, Tierney and I all throw a remote control from one to the other while telling you a little bit about our newscast. It took me, roughly, 30 takes to catch that remote control the way they wanted it. (Not my fault.) To frame the shot right, our promotions team had to throw it RIGHT at my head. (Fine, I can handle that.) But they chucked it from behind this bright light--So, I couldn't see it until it was just about to hit me! After about ten attempts, we finally came down to a system where they would countdown from "3" and at "1," I would reach out my hand hoping that I could see it, say the line, and catch it... Periodically, I did. The promo is proof that I got one take right. (Hey, they said it took Frank a couple of times, too.)
There ya go. A little inside information on the production of "Eyewitness News 5 In the Morning." As we get closer to the air-date, I'll post more on that time-consuming story I'm writing.
Oh, note to Tierney... I could beat you in air hockey. Like the promo shoot, it may take me about 30 tries, but I'd ultimately beat you in one game. (Read Tierney's blog below...)
