I have a new addiction...
Posted by Tierney Cook
As you know if you watch the show, I don't go outside much.
I spend my time volunteering and watching television.
My latest t.v. addiction is, Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel.
It is the best thing on television right now.
I was bragging about the show recently when someone told me Oprah is a fan as well.
It's up close, dramatic, riveting, sad and beautiful all at the same time.
So far my favorite episode has been the shallow seas episode.
In it is the much talked about shark attack sequence.
In it, somewhere (I cannot remember where) there is a small stretch of water that seals pass through to get to food.
So it shows cute grey seals swimming for their lives, because that small strip of water is full of you guessed it....GREAT WHITE SHARKS!!!
You are cheering for the seals to make it through the dangerous water!!!!
And just when you think they have made it...out of the water jumps a great white shark and eats up the seal.
I was devastated, I cheered for the seal, but while I was devastated I was amazed by the shot the photographer was able to catch.
The actual attack lasts a second, but it is slowed down two where it lasts more than 30 seconds.
You see the sharks grimacing teeth, the seal's death, and the millions of water drops surrounding the deadly dance.
It is an amazing show, that comes on every Sunday night on the Discovery Channel.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
