"I Don't Cook"
Posted by Adam Slinger
I don’t cook. I can’t cook. I don’t really like cooking. In fact, for probably the past six years or so, my diet has revolved around five different easy-made-menu items. It’s sad. I know. I’m aware of the problem.
Truly though, it’s never really been an issue for me… Until now… I’m supposed to bring a homemade dish to the Eyewitness News 5 Thanksgiving Day lunch. (Most of us will be working on Thursday.)
My dilemma is as obvious as the answer: I’m buying something.
So, what does everyone recommend the take-out king bring? Bread. That’s it.
Apparently, my inabilities to cook also correlate with my grocery shopping skills. (Actually, that’s probably a correct assumption, but someone could have told me what to purchase for the feast.)
I suppose this is how Thanksgiving should be. We should all offer what we’re able to offer. I can handle bread. It’s included on my grocery list each week. I’m familiar with the grain row at the supermarket.
However, I still feel like there’s something else I can do. Something bigger.... Would bringing in bread be enough? Probably not. Perhaps, if I dig around in my kitchen enough, watch the Food Network and really think about it… I can find some butter in my fridge.
What? Were you expecting that I would ultimately try cooking something? Like I said… I don’t cook.
Happy Thanksgiving!
