Rare Japan Tornado
Tornadoes are rare in Japan, but one touched down today in Samora, which is in the far north of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. Early reports have nine people killed and at least 15 injured. Most of the casualties were from two pre-fabricated buildings that were destroyed. The buildings were being used as homes and offices by workers who were building a tunnel for a road through a mountain. About 100 workers were involved in the project. The tornado also destroyed several homes and tore roofs off of others.
