More Christmas Weather Trivia

Our warmest Christmas was in 1922, when it warmed to 73 degrees. The coldest was 1983 when it dipped to one degree below zero.

Our wettest Christmas was in 1987. 1.05 inches of liquid precipitation fell. It was below freezing, so that fell as snow, sleet and freezing rain.

The whitest Christmas was 1914 when 6.5 inches of snow fell on Christmas Day.

In 1955 Christmas Day was a mild 54 degrees, but a big cool down from Chirstmas Eve, when it warmed to 86 degrees.

In 1983 (the coldest Christmas) wind chills were as cold as -27. Christmas Eve had a high of 3, winds to 38 mph and wind chills to -45.

Finally, the Christmas storm of 2000. 6-12 inches of snow in the northwest part of the state. Snow, sleet and freezing rain in central parts of the state, and one of the worst ice storms ever to affect the state in the southeast with 1-2 inches of ice.
